Obituary of Harry R. Archambault
Harry Raymond Archambault, age 98, of Chester, CT and Marco Island, FL, beloved husband of the late Hazel Archambault for nearly 73 years, passed away on December 2, 2015. Son of Ernest Raymond Archambault and Ida Mae (Gauthier) Archambault, Mr. Archambault was a native of Hartford and longtime resident of Chester, CT. Loving father of Karen Archambault Hubbard (Skip) of Chester, Raymond Archambault (Elizabeth) of Chester, Thomas Archambault (Kathleen) of Chester, Mary Archambault Frank (Bryant) of West Bloomfield, MI. Cherished grandfather of Thomas Hubbard (Cheryl), Elizabeth Hubbard, Heather Archambault (Scott Runyon), Seth Archambault, Taylor Archambault (Nicole), William Frank and Alexander Frank (Meghan Murphy). Great-grandfather of Sydney Archambault; Catherine, Claire, and Andrew Hubbard; and Olivia Frank. He is also survived by sister, Helen Lundberg, and sister-in-law, Daisy Watrous. Harry graduated in 1940 from the University of Connecticut. Harry served as a Staff Sgt. during WWII, and was stationed in Fort Myers, FL. After the war, Harry and Hazel returned to Chester, where, for more than 50 years, Harry was President of Archambault Insurance, Inc., and dedicated his life to his family, his business and the community. Harry was devoted to many civic, communal and charitable organizations and actively undertook leadership positions in many of these. Among others, Harry served as Trustee of St. Joseph's RC Church of Chester, was President of University of Connecticut National Alumni Association, a Director of the University of Connecticut Foundation, Chairman and First Treasurer of Regional School District No. 4, a Director of the Connecticut Association of Insurance Agents, a Director of Chester Bank, President of Black Hall Club, First President of Chester Rotary Club and Paul Harris Fellow, a member of the Middlesex Community College Advisory Board, a Director of MXCC Foundation, a Director of the Chester Fair, a member of the Advisory Board of Goodspeed Opera Foundation, and a member of Eagle Creek Golf and Country Club in Naples, FL. Harry and his entire family were extremely appreciative of the kind and loving attention of his caregivers, Lisa and Pamela , as well as for the efforts and professionalism of Kathy Ryan and all of the staff at the Saybrook at Haddam assisted living facility. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 11th from 5-7PM at the Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main Street, in Centerbrook. A Memorial Mass will be on Saturday December 12th at 10AM at St. Joseph's Church in Chester. Burial will follow at the Old Burial Ground in Chester.
