Obituary of Richard Nicholas Johns

Dr. Richard Nicholas Johns of East Haddam, Connecticut succumbed to a long illness, at home, on December 30, 2015. Nick is survived by his wife Susan (Suzy), son Landon, daughter Kesha, step-daughter Sarah, step-son James, granddaughters Kendra and Audrie, grandsons, Jacob, Trystin, Matthias and Elias. Nick grew up in Iowa. He completed his work in higher education at the University of Iowa, Northeast Missouri State (Truman), and the University of Northern Iowa. He provided dedicated leadership to public schools in Iowa, Michigan and New York. His work in education touched the lives of thousands of children and inspired hundreds of teachers to reflect on and improve their practice. Nick was a kind and generous man of strong character with complete and uncomplicated faith in the love of God. He lived his life with dignity and humor. He will be missed by all who knew him.
