Obituary of Robert Haskell Post
Robert Haskell Post, age 92, a life long resident of Westbrook passed away peacefully on Saturday evening, April 9, 2016 at The Hearth at Tunxis Pond in Madison. He was the beloved husband of the late Vivian (Burk) Post. Born in Centerbrook he was the son of Raymond E. and Delphine (Haskell) Post. Bob was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corp serving as a Flight Officer during World War II. Bob and Vivian were married on June 16, 1945 in Arkansas City, Kansas, Vivian predeceased him on July 27, 2001. He was a mechanical engineer and worked at Cramers in Centerbrook as well as Raymond Engineering in Middletown. He retired in 1990. Bob was the first constable for the Town of Westbrook and also founded the Westbrook Board of Recreation. He was a life member of the American Legion, a member of the Estuary Lodge #43, AF&AM in Old Saybrook, an avid UCONN sports fan as well as a fan of the New England Patriots. Bob will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by his daughter, Debra A. Kelly and her husband Booth M. Kelly, Jr. of Westbrook, his grandchildren, Jason Walsh and his wife Lisa of Waterford, and Abbie Kelly of South Windsor. He also leaves his two great-grandchildren, Reece and Alexis Walsh. Bob was predeceased by his son, Richard D. Post who passed away in November of 1986. Funeral services will be privately held at the Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home on Thursday, April 14, 2016 officiated by the Reverend Jan Gregory-Charpentier of the First Congregational Church of Westbrook. Members of the Estuary Lodge #43 also provided a Masonic Ritual. Burial followed in the Cypress Cemetery in Westbrook with the Rendering of Military Honors. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Bob's name may be made to the Westbrook Ambulance Assoc., 1316 Boston Post Road, Westbrook, CT 06498.
