We were all so sorry to hear of your father's passing. He was the best of the best. We first met him when we were building around the corner and he would stop by and visit the framers, bringing them lemonade on hot days, watermelon and other tasty treats. He always had a smile, a joke, and a story to tell. His contributions to the community were endless, and we will always remember him with great fondness. With love, Renee and Tom Smith.

I remember well the days of Ernie taking my television production class with the students at Haddam-Killingworth High School. He worked as hard if not harder than they did to master the video production skills and took great pride in his efforts. I called him my "youngest" student because of his enthusiasm and great sense of humor. He fit right in and the high schoolers accepted him as one of their peers. What a pleasure for all of us and what tremendous memories. I was fortunate enough for our friendship to continue and it developed into a genuine and true, trusting relationship that is rare. Thank you, Ernie!

We have known Ernie and his wife for many years. Our most vivid memory of Ernie was coming down to visit us at the farm and getting buckets of manure for his garden, and seeing the cows and what we were up to at the farm that day. We and the town will miss him greatly.
