Obituary of Richard E. Wilson
Richard (Rick) E. Wilson 52, a lifetime resident of Clinton, CT. passed away unexpectedly on May 21, 2014. The oldest Son of Richard W. Wilson and the late Lois (Naomi) (Haag) Wilson. He was born in Middletown CT. on July 20, 1961. Rick attended Clinton Schools and graduated from Morgan High School in 1980. He then went on to the love of his life; the water. He started his career as a boat mechanic at Harbor Side Marina, where he continued to learn that trade. He was then given the opportunity to be mentored by Albert Hotchkiss the owner of Riverside Basin Marina. As Rick learned the business from Albert, he knew now what he wanted to do with the rest of his life. Rick was given the opportunity in 1987 to purchase Riverside Basin Marina from his mentor Albert. Subsequently Rick added 2 additional businesses to his first love, Riverside Basin Construction and CT. Dredge Corporation; this all became his life passion. Anyone that knew Rick knew he had few interests other than, the water. for Rick, it was always about being near or on the water. What made Rick happy, was always very simple…making sure everyone around him was happy. Rick was a true business man but, he was kind, respectful, and took pride in his integrity. In addition to his father, Rick leaves behind 3 children; DonnaLynn Saunders, Christina Lecza (Joseph) and Albert K. Wilson, also, his sister Lynne Reiss-Deloreto. He was predeceased by his brother Todd L. Wilson. He is also survived by his Grandson Joseph (L.J.) Lecza. There were many people in Rick's life that were special to him in so many different ways. His very trusted and devoted Corporate Secretary Patricia Iavarone , his Operation Manager Scott, along with the team he had at Riverside Basin Marina. He also had a special place in his heart for others that have touched his life, throughout his life, Terry, Jack, John, John, Rick, Bobbie, and so many others. Visitation will be held at the Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main Street in Centerbrook on Wednesday, May 28th from 5:00PM to 8:00PM. Rick's funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 29th at 10:00AM at the First Church of Christ, Congregational, 55 Church Road in Clinton. Interment will follow in the Indian River Cemetery in Clinton. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Rick's name to the Clinton Harbor Preservation, c/o Liberty Bank, 8 East Main Street, Clinton, CT 06413.
