Rest in peace Jim. You touched my life in an unforgettable way. Seems you continue to do that more than 30 years later, leaving this earth on my birthday. I hope you found the life you were seeking for so long.

Judy, so sorry to hear of Jim's passing. Will always remember the times when visiting him down at the docks, having a brew or two, seeing what his newest projects were and talking about goings about town. Good times!

As one summer finished a long time ago . There was three figures on old Essex Yacht Clubs dinghy deck just before sunset. The smoking bluefish billowed choking smoke from the water soaked grape vines we used to cure the fish.
We ate early macs with a dirty pocket knife and piece of cured bluefish from the night before and we talked about what was good about the world while we sipped our Buds. The sun set behind us made the othe side of the river glow gold color and the smoke from the bluefish mixed with the color to make it look out of reach.
We solved most the worlds problems these days on the deck. None of our own. I will never forget late summer spent with Jim by the river. Jim was my Huck Finn.
I am deeply saddened to hear he has passed. You have my sincere sympathy.

I was sad to read about Jimmy D's passing this morning. Jim and Judy spent many years at Hawk's Nest Beach, moving from their winter cottage to their summer cotage. Part of the extended HNB family, Jim took pride in smoking fish and sharing his talent as an exquisite sign carver..he carved sign numbers for the two cottages they lived in which remain still. I can still see him smoking his pipe, looking out at the water in quiet contemplation. The Garvin family extends its heartfelt sympathy to you Judy and family...
