Obituary of Elfriede Linek
Elfriede (Frieda) Linek, age 89 formally of Chester passed away March 21st, 2017 at the Tidewell Hospice House of Ellenton in Palmetto, Florida with family and a caring staff by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Karel Linek. Frieda was born in the Czech Republic of July 2, 1927 the 10th child of Franz & Mary Sattler. Frieda was a seamstress by trade in her native country, made beautiful wedding dresses by hand. Frieda and Karel married in Hamburg, Germany in 1948. In 1950 Frieda and her husband along with 10 month baby girl came to the USA and settled in Astoria, New York. In 1963 the family now with two daughter's moved to Chester, Connecticut. Karel and Frieda were married 51 years. Karel passed away in December 3rd, 1999. She received her driver's license at age 40, worked at C.J. Bates in Chester for 27 years. She enjoyed being on the Bates Bowling team and enjoyed knitting and crocheting but her biggest love was her family. She is survived by her two daughters; Marsha Gellar and husband Harold Gellar of Lakewood ranch, Florida. Vera Cafaro and husband Robert Cafaro of Groton, Connecticut. Her two Grandchildren; David Gellar and wife Catherine Gellar of Old Lyme, Connecticut. Sheri Morin and husband Scott Morin of Bradenton, Florida- her six beloved great grandchildren; Olivia, Justin, Hannah, Chelsea, Luke and Caitlin. They fondly remember her special chocolate cookies and watching Family Feud and attending their school plays, sports, and games. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 27th from 9am to 10:30am at the Robinson Wright and Weymer Funeral Home- 34 Main Street Centerbrook. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am at Saint Joseph's Catholic Church in Chester. Burial will follow. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Frieda's name can be made to Catholic Charities of Norwich, Connecticut and Tidewell Hospice of Manatee County of Florida.
