I worked with Jim at ConnDOT, and later crossed his path in the consulting world. He was the chief inspector on the Mystic Draw Bridge rehabilitation in 2001, and knew the workings of that bridge inside and out. He made friends with everyone while he worked. My condolences to his wife and daughters. May he rest in peace.

Jim had a way of resolving problems by taking his time, relying on his education, past experience and common sense. With his laid back personality and sense of humor he was a pleasure to work with and an honor to be his friend.
My deepest condolences to Barbara and Family.

Jim Holbink was one of a kind. He so possessed a brilliant mind. Engineering was his stock in trade. He knew steel and concrete and roadway grade. He married well to Barbara his Wife. Then added 3 daughters to their Life. Jodie the eldest with a bowling passion, Jenny runs the numbers for when you cash in, And Molly prefers the Yankees in fashion. But Jim is now gone, so let us hold fast. Our good memories of him may they long last.

Jim was a smart and ingenious engineer. He was always helping others, and had a knack of posing a different path to solve a problem or predicament. It was great working with Jim in Connecticut and Virginia, and always fun to just stop by and say hi in Chester. Jim was a good friend and will be missed by many. My thoughts go out to Barbara, Jody, Jenny and Molly.

I attended the University of Connecticut School of Engineering with Jim. He helped me get my first job at Millstone power station in 1973. We shared a house for a while. Lost track of Jim 11/1975 when I left my job. Have searched for Jim online for years but could never find him. My condolences to his family. I will cherish memories of Jim and may God bless him.
