Obituary of James Holbink
James "Jim" Holbink, age 65, of Chester, passed away on Thursday evening, May 11, 2017 at the Middlesex Hospital in Middletown. Jim was the beloved husband of Barbara (Maldonado) Holbink. He was born in Ansonia on August 28, 1951 the son of George and Sally (Bodiak) Holbink. Jim had been a resident of Chester since 1982. He was a Civil Engineer who worked at the State of Connecticut Department of Transportation retiring after 19 years. He continued working as a Civil Engineer job shopper and retired in 2015. Jim was known by many as "The Bird House Guy" having created over 1,000 bird houses that can be found throughout the Northeast. He also was an avid vegetable gardener. Along with his wife Barbara he leaves his daughters; Jody Holbink of Westbrook, Jenny Holbink and her husband, Mark Mierzejewski of Berlin, and Molly Holbink of North Branford. He also is survived by his sister, Sue Ellen Holbink and her husband, Ed Hazen of Falls City, Washington. Visitation will held at the Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main Street in Centerbrook on Saturday, May 20, 2017 from 5:00PM until the time of a Remembrance Service at 6:30PM.
