Obituary of Edward James McLaughlin

Edward James McLaughlin, 83, of Ivoryton, CT died at Connecticut Hospice on October 28, 2017 after a brave battle with cancer. He was the beloved husband of the late Rose A. McLaughlin, a father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and uncle. Born in Brooklyn, New York on September 14, 1934, he was the son of the late Josephine and Charles McLaughlin and had been a resident of Ivoryton since 2006 and Woodstock, NY previous to that. He was employed with Philips Electronics for over 35 years, retiring in 1994 as Operations Manager. Ed was a member of St. Mark's Catholic Church in Westbrook. He enjoyed woodworking, electronics and his family. He is survived by his children, Laura Maynard and her husband David, their children, David Maynard and his wife, Stephanie and their children David and Jacqueline, of Deep River and Kristen Maynard of Baltimore, MD, Linda Higgins and her husband, Kevin, of Westbrook and their two children Justine and Kyle Higgins, Rose McLaughlin of Ivoryton and her daughters, Laura D'Amico of Cranston, RI and Kathryn D'Amico of Middletown, a brother, Charles McLaughlin and his wife, Dorothea, and their three daughters, Megan, Shannon and Kelli of Long Island, NY and his beloved dog, Georgia. With deepest gratitude to the Home Health Aids of Lower Valley Care Advocates of Essex and all those who lovingly cared for Ed at Connecticut Hospice. Memorial contributions in Ed's name may be made to Connecticut Hospice, 100 Double Beach Road, Branford CT 06405. A private, family graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 4th at Riverside Cemetery in Old Saybrook.
