Obituary of Wayne D'Amico

Wayne D'Amico, age 50, of Ivoryton, CT, beloved father, husband and friend, passed away on Nov 4th surrounded by his loving family after a difficult and courageous battle with cancer. Wayne loved his family. He took care of everyone. He was the rock. His children are a testament to his love and devotion. He always put others above self. He adored his wife, Betsy, as he always referred to her as his "lobster". Wayne made many friends and cultivated lasting relationships wherever he went. His smile always lit up the room. His laughter was absolutely contagious. Wayne was always up for a debate, speaking to a crowd, a politically correct joke or a guitar jam session. He was a great listener. He was thoughtful in crafting suggestions and challenging when he heard a line. He was funny always, serious when necessary and reliable as gravity. Wayne enjoyed a lifelong love of music by singing, DJ-ing, playing guitar, collecting fine guitars and performing. He loved guitars – their history, their shape, their tone and even their smells. He collected many beautiful guitars and amplifiers and loved to share them with others. He was a musician at heart. Professionally, Wayne was a commercial real estate broker for over 25 years dba Wayne D'Amico & Co., Inc. Wayne was deeply committed to all his endeavors and the CCIM (Certified Commercial Investment Member) Institute was one of his passions. Over his 15 years of service he was elected to the Board of Directors, served on committees and elected President of the Institute for 2013. He created lifelong professional and personal friendships that his family will cherish forever. CCIM members have been Wayne's extended family and continue to offer their support. Wayne recently fulfilled a personal dream to work in New York City. As EVP Corporate Development and Strategic Relations with Xceligent he was based in the New York City office on Madison Avenue. They too became like family to him. Wayne graduated NYU with a B.A. in Real Estate and Finance and was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity. He was a Member of two different Rotary Clubs for over 25 years, where he served on multiple committees helping to raise thousands of dollars for those in need. He also served as a Trustee of Essex Savings Bank. Wayne is survived by his parents Judith and Armand D'Amico, brother and sister in law Ron and Angela D'Amico, his wife Betsy D'Amico and his 2 children James and Max. He also leaves his father and mother in law Jack and Terry Butler, his sister in law Kate Butler and his brother in law John Butler and his wife Dodie. Services will be under the direction of Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, Inc. in Centerbrook, CT. (http://www.rwwfh.com/) A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 14 Prospect St., Essex, CT. Mourners are requested to meet directly to the church. Burial will be private at a later date. In lieu of flowers please consider a contribution toward the boys college education through the CCIM Foundation.
