Obituary of Patricia Halloran

Patricia (McGowan) Halloran, 64, of East Haddam, wife of Frank M. Halloran, passed away Thursday, (June 23, 2011) in Branford. Born in New Haven, she was the daughter of the late Ambrose and Francis (Deegan) McGowan. She was a member of the class of 1965 at St. Marys High School in New Haven. She received her Master’s degree in special education from Southern Connecticut State University. After 15 years as a stay at home mom she went back to school and started a second career as a Special Education teacher and child advocate at The Essex Elementary School. She was a warm, caring person whose passion and optimism was felt both inside and outside the classroom. Living every moment to the fullest, it was her love of Ireland, Nantucket, hydrangeas, flip flops, friends and family kept her irish eyes smiling. She is survived by her daughter Maura Wainio and her husband Jason Wainio of East Haddam, two sons, Greg Halloran and his wife Brooke Halloran of Grafton, MA and Brian Halloran of NYC, her sister, Sharon Bassermann and her husband Peter Bassermann of Branford, and three grandchildren Gavin Wainio, Finley Halloran and Colin Halloran. Vistitation will be Sunday, June 26, 2011 from 2 -4 p.m. at the Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, Inc., 34 Main Street, Centerbrook . A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Josephs Parish in Chester, CT at 11:00 am on Monday June 27th 2011 Contributions in memory of Patricia Halloran may be made to the Yale Cancer Center, Office of Development, P.O.
