Becky - so sorry to read about your father. He was a great guy. I remember thinking he was so smart (back in 7th grade) when he used to explain how to get stickers off of things using peanut butter! i will keep you and your mom in my prayers during this difficult time. Joanne

GENE WAS ALWAYS VERY KIND TO ME UNLESS WE WERE PLAYING CARDS THEN THAT WAS A DIFFERENT STORY. MY MOST VIVID MEMORY OF PLAYING CARDS WITH HIM WAS MY SAYING COME ON NOW WHILE HE WAS LOOKING AT HIS CARDS AFTER THROWING SOME AWAY. HE WOULD TAKE HIS TIME AND IT DROVE ME CRAZY. IT WAS FUN PLAYING WITH HIM. I ALSO KNOW HE WAS A WONDERFUL GRANDFATHER TO HIS 5 GIRLS.
MAY YOU REST IN PEACE GENE AND BE READY TO PLAY CARDS AGAIN WHEN I SEE YOU NEXT TIME.
LOVE
SHAUN REGAN

I remember my Uncle Gene as always being there for us. He was a man who difined the best of a husband and father.
My fondest memory is how he and my Aunt welcomed my partner and I into their home for the first time many years ago - I felt so loved.
And the many childhood times with the Hackneys when they visited S CA are also fondly remembered.
He will always one of the greatest guys I ever met.
Love you, Uncle Gene

My heart breaks with the passing of Uncle Gene. He was always so great to me and my kids. We enjoyed our time together and I loved listening to him tell me stories of his young life with his brothers on the farm and his working life as a young man. We shared many nice dinners just chatting and he was always just so easy to be with. Thank you Uncle Gene, you were a great role model to me always! I love you, Kim
