Obituary of Eugene Hackney

Eugene Francis Hackney Sr., 76, of South Kingstown, RI and Phoenix, AZ passed away July 16, 2011 after a short illness. He was born in New Britain,CT on January 16, 1935, son of the late Francis & Rose (Veronesi) Hackney. Gene leaves his wife of 51 years, Alda (Capitani) Hackney, his daughter Rebecca Regan (Keith) of Phoenix, AZ and his son Eugene Hackney Jr. (Patricia) of Stonington, CT. His granddaughters; Julie Garrity (Patrick), Carolyn Regan, Morgan, Paige and Taylor Hackney and one great grandson Logan Garrity. His brothers Paul Hackney of Berlin, CT, Everett Hackney of Lebanon,CT and many nieces and nephews. Gene was predeceased by his bothers Jack & David Hackney. Gene worked for many years at the Pratt & Whitney Div. of United Technology. He was a member of St. John’s Church and K of C Council #6 in Cromwell, CT where he lived for over 35 years. Gene was a member of the Ahwatukee Woodwork Shop in Phoenix, AZ where he created many woodworking projects. He was a gentle, kind man that enjoyed gardening, boating, clamming, fishing, playing cards and spending time with his family. Visiting hours will be held at Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main St. Centerbrook on Tuesday from 9-10:30am. Graveside services will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Chester.
