Obituary of Leonard Roos

Roos: Leonard H. "Pop" Roos, age 88, a life-long resident of Deep River passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Thursday morning, September 8th at his residence. He was born in Deep River, the son of the late Bjorvin and Beatrice (Cone) Roos. He was a proud veteran of World War II serving as a Sergeant in the Army Air Corps in Burma, India and China. Pop retired from UARCO in Deep River. He was a member of the Trinity-Mount Olive Lodge #43 A.F. & A.M., American Legion, Swede Club, S-X Sportsman's Club, and a life member of the Westbrook Elks Lodge #1784. He was an avid wood worker carving fish decoys. "Pop" was an uncle to many cherished nieces and nephews from all over the United States, Panama, and South Africa. He also leaves his surviving brother-in- law Richard Grisky of Old Lyme. Besides his beloved wife Rosemary, who passed away in 2003 he was predeceased by his sister, Betty Fargo, brother, Francis Roos and brother-in-law Donald Grisky. The family would like to thank all for their loving care and support. Special thanks to his neighbors for all of their kindness. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 12th at 1:00PM at the Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main Street in Centerbrook. Burial with full military honors will follow in the Fountain Hill Cemetery in Deep River.
