Obituary of Robert E. Lee

Robert E. Lee, age 92, passed away on Tuesday, August 19, 2014. He was born in Deep River, the son of George and Elsie (Leightsinger) Lee. He was a lifelong resident of Deep River. Robert was employed by the Pratt-Read Co. for 44 years before retiring in 1985. He was proud of having served in the U.S. Navy during World War II aboard the battleship U.S.S. Missouri and witnessing the surrender of Japan in Tokyo Bay. He was a very talented woodworker and in his later years enjoyed his time in Maine. Robert is predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Welda (Bowers) Lee. He leaves behind his son, Everett Lee and his wife Cheryl of Lyme, two grandsons, Shannon Corey and his wife Michele of Seymour, and Alfred Corey and his partner Elizabeth of Bothill, WA. He also leaves his great-grandson, Wyatt Corey of Seymour, his sister, Ruby (Lee) Walden of Essex, his sister-in-law, Lois (Bowers) Christie of Port Royal, VA., and many nieces and nephews.
