Obituary of Charles Rockwell Williams
Dr. Charles Rockwell Williams, 93, of Essex Connecticut, passed away April 24, 2012 at Middlesex Hospital in Middletown. Born on October 5, 1918 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Williams, he was a graduate of Deerfield Academy and received degrees from Wesleyan University, Yale University and Cornell Medical College. He served as an officer in the U.S Army Medical Corps in both the South Pacific and European Theaters during World War II.
A longtime resident of Fairfield CT, Dr. Williams maintained a private medical practice in Fairfield for over 35 years and held various positions at Bridgeport Hospital, including chief of the internal medicine section, vice president and president of the medical staff, chief of staff and membership on the board of director's executive committee.
Predeceased by his beloved wife of 62 years, Loraine Fairchild Williams, Dr. Williams is survived by his five children: John Williams (Gail) of Milford CT, Elizabeth Williams of Milford, CT, Frederick Williams (Marie) of Goffstown, NH., David Williams (Kate) of Guilford CT, and Dr. Jeffrey Williams (Holly) of Woodacre, CA. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Carson, Chase, Courtney, John, Michele and Noelle; his sister Mary Lee Williams, of Boston, MA, his brother David of Vero Beach, FL and his dear friend Robbin Reynolds of Essex CT.
A memorial service will be held at Essex Meadows, 30 Bokum Road in Essex, May 11, 2012, at 3 p.m.
