Obituary of Thomas J. Pike
Thomas J. Pike, age 68, of Deep River passed away on Monday, May 28th at Middlesex Hospital in Middletown. He was the beloved husband of the late Loran (Kelsey) Pike who passed away on January 19, 2002. He was born in Middletown on May 18, 1944 the son of the late Robert Gordon and Rose (Collier) Pike, Jr. He was raised in Ivoryton and graduated from Valley Regional High School in 1962. Tom served his country during the Vietnam Conflict as a member of the United States Navy serving on the aircraft carriers Hancock and Ranger. He had been a resident of Deep River for the last 7 years and formerly resided in Chester since 1970. Tom was the Physical Plant Manager at the Gladeview Health Care Center in Old Saybrook and also had been a carpenter at one time for the Breslin Construction Company, building homes throughout the Lower Connecticut River Valley. His hobbies included being a mechanic and he had a true love of anything air-cooled, motorcycles, cars, and planes were his favorites. He was a true outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He is survived by his daughter, Sarah J. Pike, of Chester, son William T. Pike, of Brooklyn, NY, his beloved granddaughter, Meagan Pike of Chester, sister, Barbara Minor, of Newtown, brother, Daniel Pike of Ivoryton, and his longtime companion, Maryanne Lebert of Deep River. Besides his wife Loran he was predeceased by his brother, Robert Gordon Pike, III. Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 2nd from 1:00PM to 3:00PM at the Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main Street in Centerbrook.
