Obituary of Dorothy J. Husson

Dorothy J. Husson died peacefully at Aaron Manor in Chester, CT on September 28, 2014, with family at her side. She was 99 years old. Mrs. Husson was a devoted wife and mother and enjoyed the company of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was born in Los Angeles, CA on March 27, 1915 and spent her childhood traveling with her parents as a result of her father's architect responsibilities. She married Matthew A. Husson Jr. who was an Army officer and served in WW II. They lived in New York City and New Orleans among other places, and settled in Little Silver, New Jersey where they raised their five children. She had a fondness for the beach and playing tennis, and spent many summer days there with her growing children. She moved to CT in 1987 to be near her daughters and their families. Dorothy always loved having fresh flowers in her home, and she most enjoyed gourmet cooking in her own kitchen, reading, travel, living in Essex. Some of her favorite times were spent surrounded by her family at dinners on special occasions. Her husband, Matthew A. Husson Jr., and her daughter-in-law, Maryellen Husson, predeceased her. Her survivors include her sister, Veronica J. Sulger, her children Matthew A. Husson III (Christine), John J. Husson, Suzanne E. Siegel (Stanley), Gretchen N. Gaughran (Philip), and Julie E. Husson. Also surviving are her grandchildren Matthew A. Husson IV (Marni), Stephen G. Husson (Melanie), Eric T. Husson (Nikki), David W. Westerfield (Mary Ann), Christopher R. Westerfield, Jason S. Mathis, Steven T. Mathis (Deanna), Daniel J. Mathis (Jessica), Kevin M. Mathis (Erin), Meredith C. Acierno (John), Susan Alexis Husson, Christopher M. Husson, Karen R. Siegel, Shana F. Gaughran, and Colin M. Gaughran along with 18 great-grandchildren. Dorothy's funeral service will be privately held by her family.
