To Chris, Drew, Jane and the entire Knowlton family, my condolences. I was only a few years out of college when I first met Sandy while sailing. Unlike the other businessmen and older adults that I sailed for at that time, Sandy was different he was young at heart and more like one of us in spirit. He trusted us and deferred to our expertise in sailing while at the same time teaching us subtle life lessons, in bits and pieces, through astute observations and a certain dry esoteric humor that could be lost on one not closely paying attention. He would allow a bunch of kids to commandeer one of his sailing yachts with a live-in-the-moment attitude that was worthy of emulation and invigorated us all. He was a generous and fun man to hang around with. He will be missed. Although I had recently lost touch with Sandy, and your family, I will never forget the wonderful times we spent together on the water. Those memories are etched in my mind forever.
