Obituary of Agnes S. Carlson
Agnes S. Carlson, age 99, of Chester passed away on Monday morning, March 25th at Chesterfields Health Care Center in Chester. She was the beloved wife of the late Carl "Eric" Carlson who predeceased her on January 5, 1982. They were married in Deep River on November 21, 1940. Agnes was born the daughter of Victor I. and Ida (Wahlquist) Santti on August 18, 1913 in Bronx, New York. She had been a resident of Dee River since 1940 and was formerly of North Stonington. Agnes was a member of the First Congregational Church of Deep River for many years. She loved to knit, sew, and cook. Agnes will be remembered for her love of children and child care and her devotion to being a homemaker and providing for her family. She is survived by her daughters, Margaret C. Davies, of Chester, Joan C. Wetmore and Patricia C. Baroni, both of Deep River, and her son, Alvin V. Carlson, of Chester, her nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Agnes was predeceased by her sister, Amy S. Angilly in 2007 and her brother, Astor Santti in 1986. A graveside service was held privately by her family at the family lot in the Fountain Hill Cemetery, High Street, in Deep River. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Connecticut Humane Society, 701 Russell Road, Newington, CT 06111 or to a charity of the donor's choice.
