Obituary of Jean Frances Alsop

Alsop, Jean F. (Gura) (Zawisza), age 76, of Centerbrook passed away peacefully in the comfort of her loving family on Sunday, October 12, 2014. Jean was born January 17, 1938 the daughter of the late Francis and Florence (Carpenter) Gura of Meriden. Jean loved her family, including her devoted husband Henry Zawisza, beloved son David Topper, and his wife Jeanne, and their children Michael and Lauren Topper of West Bridgewater, MA. She is also survived by her brother James Gura and his wife Rita of Daytona Beach Florida. She was predeceased by her twin brother Jack Gura. She enjoyed spending time with her family, boating and trips to Block Island. Memorial contributions in Jean's name may be sent to Middlesex Hospital Hospice Care 7th Floor, 28 Crescent St., Middletown, CT 06457. A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2014 from 11:30AM to 3:00PM at the United Scandinavian Society, 10 Riverview Avenue in Deep River.
